Have you heard enough about MARKETING yet?

Marketing is the "M" Word

One problem is that we have heard it so much that we take it for granted and have stopped critically thinking about marketing in its purest form.

Marketing decisions generally fall into the following four controllable categories:

Message (Product)

Medium (Placement)

Method (Promotion)

Money (Pricing)

These ingredients can be viewed as the marketing mix. The term "marketing mix" became popularized after Neil H. Borden published his 1964 article, The Concept of the Marketing Mix. Borden began using the term in his teaching in the late 1940's after James Culliton had described the marketing manager as a "mixer of ingredients".

BUT...

If you really want to know how your marketing measures up in the modern market-place, consider this ...

The average consumer today is exposed to 30,000 commercial messages per year. Do you really think that just because you have a really great looking flyer, they are going to suddenly BUY FROM YOU?

The fact is, most consumers have ust stopped paying attention to advertising, sales, and most marketing messages. And, it takes a lot more than marketing a good product to gain and sustain business in this market.
